Having issues with Squarespace (which hosts this blog). In an effort to speed things up I've started a new page, called Blog Current Posts. To get there go back to the home page and click on Blog Current Posts.

Walk up the river to the falls. Lunch in Gore Bay followed by many hands stripping the sails off Heliotrope. Light NW wind--warm in the sun, cool in the shade.
And our early Canadian Thanksgiving.
Picture perfect day. Flat calm in the morning, perfect for a bike ride down to the marina and back. And then a few hours of brisk south wind giving us a fine ride on the 'Rider.
The Caves are here for a few days.
Blog software not working.
Rain late last night into late morning. Then clearing to beautiful. Wild north wind and huge seas rolling into Kagawong harbor before noon, but the Windrider rode out the disturbance with no trouble.
Back in Kagawong, after what some of the kids might describe as a long, poopy drive. Still, good to be here for the last stretch of 2015. Brought along an Oregon Sweet Meat squash which we will have for our faux Canadian thanksgiving. Of course, having never actually tasted an Oregon Sweet Meat, we are only assuming delectable perfection.
Pray hard to weather, that lone surviving god,
that in some sudden wisdom we surrender.

It seems to me that I have experienced few significant thunderstorms this season, certainly none of the violent variety. And, once again, no violent hurricanes coming ashore, or on the radar. Is Mother Nature pulling her punches or saving up for a wallop?
Anyway, here, some nice thunder and some nice rain, and who could ask for anything more?
(Note to readers, if any: posting to this blog is a two-step process—step one involves uploading a photo or two (from iPhone or camera); step two involves filling in the blanks with a bit of text (from computer). Sometimes there is a time lag (sometimes of many hours) between the initial upload and the final post (the one with wording). So, I would like to suggest, if possible, that the best policy might be to skip this blog entirely and follow Donald Trump, or if that is not possible, to look here a day later on in the calendar than the day it seems to be.)
First big loop walk in a long time. Hot by the last leg, under a cloudless sky, even with a brisk breeze. Pax likes revisiting all the familiar places.
One such, our sturdy young swamp white oak on the creekside trail, was lightly decorated with acorns, and after debating a while I picked some. They may not be quite ripe, but but it is certain that on my next trip by, nearly a month from now, they will not be there. The strange thing is that, with all the squirrels in Whitewater, these few have survived this long.
